📝 My Experience Making a Paddle in Blender

When I started modeling a table tennis paddle in Blender, I thought it would be a simple process: just create the shape, add colors, and finish. But once I began working, I realized there were many unexpected challenges, especially with UV unwrapping and assigning materials.

The first problem came when I tried to unwrap the paddle. I couldn’t select all the edges properly, and I got confused about which UV unwrap option to use. The UV ma

p looked messy, and I couldn’t tell which part was the paddle face, which part was the edge, or which part was the handle. This made it hard to assign the correct colors to each side.

Another frustrating issue I faced was a system crash. At one point, Blender froze, my screen turned white, and I had to restart the program. I lost a bit of progress, which taught me how important it is to save often when working on 3D projects.

I also struggled with assigning multiple materials. Sometimes the whole paddle would turn into one color, and other times the wrong face got painted. After experimenting, I learned that I needed to carefully select the right faces in Edit Mode and then assign each of them to a specific material.

Finally, after trial and error, I managed to:

·         Give the front face a red material

·         Give the back face a black material

·         Assign a dark edge (rim)

·         Create a wood-brown handle

Even though it was frustrating at times especially with the white screen crash this project taught me a lot about UV unwrapping, seams, and material assignment in Blender. Now I feel much more confident about making game-ready models for future projects.
